Written by : Ron Cowen - Daniel Lipman Directed by : Kelly Makin
Liberty Avenue takes on a colorless existence under Stockwell's reign as Debbie continues to enlist voters. Brian sells off most of his possessions to pay for anti-Stockwell TV ad campaign and voter turnout in the Liberty Avenue precinct leads to Stockwell's downfall. Melanie worries about miscarriage because of family history, but makes it through her first trimester. Emmett refuses to go back to Ted, who hits rock bottom and enters rehab, where he runs into Blake - one of the counselors. Hunter's horrible mom shows up with the cops to take him away, forcing Michael to take the kid on the run, stopping only to get Brian's last wordly possession, his car.
Daniel Lipman : It always goes back to Michael and Brian in a way - the two friends. Michael has seen Brian funding this commercial so that it could possibly defeat Stockwell, or at least put the doubt in people's heads. This seems spontaneous and has a lot of consequences, and Michael doesn't understand it. Brian doesn't believe in sacrifice and he doesn't believe in love, but of course he's in love with Justin. So despite what he says, his actions don't always equate. Then Michael is faced with exactly the same kind of thing in doing something spontaneous, something that is sacrificing with consequences without thinking about it. The two of them are in the same place emotionally in the last episode.
