Daphne asks Justin to be her "first" so she has some practice before sleeping with her boyfriend. Things quickly become weird between the two friends when the momentous occasion takes on more significance for Daphne than Justin. Ted continues to reconnect with Blake, over Emmett's strong objection. Brian's father dies, and Brian has a difficult time mourning for the man who hardly ever showed him love.

Sheila Hockin : The morning that we were to shoot the funeral, there was just supposed to be a light dusting of snow on the ground, but when we got up, there was a massive snowstorm. David Wellington, who was directing the episode, phoned me and said, “This is just a disaster.” The crew couldn’t work. Everybody was soaking wet. It was a horrible situation to try to shoot in. He said, “We’re thinking maybe we should relocate this scene into the cemetery’s church.” About ten minutes later he called me back and said, “No, no, we’re going to do this. We’re going to shoot outside.” And the resulting scene is one of the most beautiful thing I’ve seen on television because you can’t buy that kind of production value. It’s just a blanket of snow falling on these people and this beautiful crane shot. After we delivered that episode to the network, they called and said, “My God, this is one of the most beautiful shot we’ve ever had on the airwaves.”
