Michael and David host a political fund-raiser for a senator, but Michael decides not to invite his friends and family. However, that doesn't stop them from coming and making the event a real party. Justin continues to be harassed at school, but even the principal refuses to let him start the Gay/Straight Student Alliance until Justin finds a new ally for his cause in the senator. Brian signs over his parental rights to Melanie under the condition that she and Lindsay reunite, thus putting an end to the fraudulent wedding.
Scott Lowell : I think the friendship between Ted and Melanie makes a lot of sense. They’re probably the most conservative characters in a lot of ways. They both share somewhat of a disdain for Brian and his lifestyle, while Ted secretly desires it. I think Ted admires the way Melanie is not afraid to say what’s on her mind. I think he admires her strength in that and I think they both have a very similar sarcastic sense of humor. It’s a very interesting pairing in that way. Being the more business minded of the gang, I think it’s a friendship that was kind of necessary.
