Exercise Happiness - Metro Toronto uncovers the stars’ secrets to being unforgettable :

Thea Gill, Actor, portrays Lindsay Peterson on the drama Queer As Folk, on Showcase

Q: What products do you use that make you look and feel good?
A: I usually feel the best when I’m feeling clean and smelling sweet. So a nice warm bath with great foaming suds is the trick. I love to use products by L’Occitaine, especially the Sweet Almond Soap, which is absolutely divine. I also like Kiehl’s Rosewater Bath and Shower Liquid Body Cleanser and I exfoliate with the Liquid Body Scrub.

Q: How do you keep life in perspective?
A: I’m very lucky to have a truly amazing and loving husband who keeps me grounded and is always there to point out to me what’s really important and meaningful in life. I’ve learned to approach life with a slightly stress-free attitude. I remind myself to take time for solitude, to work hard, to be considerate and kind to others and to understand that whatever happens in my life, it is ultimately out of my control.

Q: How do you stay fit?
A: I discovered exercise last year! When I’m working in Toronto, I go to a gym with personal trainers that have been fabulous. I work on cardio for 25 minutes, then do leg lunges with five-pound weights and leg lifts on the various machines. I use the yoga ball for my tummy exercises, and I try to stretch as much as I can. When I’m back home in Victoria, B.C., I ride my bike or walk everywhere.

Dean Armstrong, Actor, has a recurring role as Blake on Queer As Folk

Q: What products do you use that make you look and feel good?
A: I’m a bit of a product whore, not to mention a sucker for cool packaging. For the face, Aveda All Sensitive face cleanser and Kiehl’s Blue Astringent Herbal lotion. For the shower, Aveda Rosemary Mint hand and body wash. On my hair, my all-time favourite is Paul Mitchell’s Dry Wax. My hair is fine, and it seems to hold the best on dry and wet hair.

Q: How do you keep life in perspective?
A: There is an old aboriginal saying: "It is solved by walking." I take my Burmese mountain dog for a walk. There is true peace in her appreciation of the simple things in life that we too often take for granted.

Q: How do you stay fit?
A: I’m lucky because I have a pretty ridiculous metabolism. I really don’t require a lot of exercise to appear fit. Appear being the operative word. My body screams when I ignore it too long. I like to get my exercise through sports. The competition is good physically and mentally.
